Medical Technologist

Unit Details

This position is located in the Core Laboratory. Please note that Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) are not accepted for this role.

Schedule Requirements

• Weekend Shift: Rotation every third weekend to meet departmental needs.
• Call: None required.
• Floating: May be required within facility and scope of practice as needed.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 2 years of experience is required, and first-time travelers are not accepted for this unit.

Clinical Screening

Candidates will undergo a clinical review to assess fit for the position. If a candidate passes the clinical screen and meets all guidelines, they will be submitted for final decision by the hiring manager. Clinical screens are conducted on a case-by-case basis.

Time Off (RTO)

Maximum allowable time off (RTO) is 7 days.

Holiday Work Requirements

Travelers are expected to work major holidays that fall within their assignment period. The requirements are as follows:

• One major holiday: Work is expected.
• Two major holidays: Work is expected for both.
• Three major holidays: Work is expected for two out of the three holidays.

Major holidays include:

• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving/Black Friday
• Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
• New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day

Compliance Requirements

Full compliance with all pre-employment requirements is necessary to start on time. Non-compliance may result in a delay of up to two weeks due to the orientation schedule, which occurs bi-weekly.

Local Candidates

Local candidates will be accepted at the same rate as traveling candidates.

Orientation

The number of non-billable orientation hours is determined by the length of the contract, such as 8 hours for an 8-week assignment and 10 hours for a 10-week assignment.
