Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU Float

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Float. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise and the ability to adapt to multiple locations within the region.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in various PCU settings, including general medicine, surgical, neuro, oncology, cardiac, and orthopedic units.
• Float to other Patient Care Units as needed, including medical-surgical units, based on patient census and staffing requirements.
• Perform nursing duties which include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, phlebotomy, and A-line insertion as required.
• Document patient care accurately using the EPIC and Pyxis systems.
• Respond to changing patient needs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Meet shifting responsibilities, including possible movement to a new unit requiring cardiology and neurology skills as operational needs arise.

Schedule

• 3 Night shifts per week (12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30).
• A 4-week schedule will be provided two weeks in advance.
• No blocked or self-scheduling is available.
• Receive notification via phone call two hours before each shift regarding the assigned location for that day.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Must have current certifications: ACLS and NIH.
• Ability to float between all PCU units and potentially down to medical-surgical units.
• Experience in IV starts, telemetry, phlebotomy, and A-line insertion is required.
• Candidates must have no RTO (Requests Time Off) and possess a clinical pass for consideration.

Additional Information

This position includes mandatory holiday shifts, requiring work on Christmas Eve and Day, Thanksgiving Day and after, New Year’s Eve and Day. All local candidates will receive equal compensation.
