Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry

Overview

Join a dynamic and dedicated medical/surgical telemetry team as a Registered Nurse. The role involves providing comprehensive patient care for various medical conditions while maintaining high standards of clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the medical/surgical telemetry unit.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; monitor telemetry remotely.
• Utilize rapid response and code team protocols effectively.
• Care for patients with bowel obstructions and manage colostomy/ileostomy care.
• Administer and monitor feeding tubes and assist in pre/post hemodialysis management.
• Manage patients with renal failure; perform blood product administration.
• Conduct central line blood draws and peripheral line care.
• Perform phlebotomy and manage PICC lines, including starting and maintaining IVs.
• Handle medications including heparin and insulin; manage PCA and chest tubes.
• Administer and maintain non-invasive airway management systems (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC).
• Ensure proper wound care, including the use of wound vac systems.
• Follow isolation precautions and utilize PPE as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
• BLS and NIHSS certifications are mandatory.
• Charge experience is preferred but not required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Experience with telemetry, post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, and post-myocardial infarction care is an asset.
• Knowledge of IV insulin protocols and bariatric surgery care is a plus.
• Familiarity with electronic documentation systems is preferred.
• Direct experience in community hospital settings is desirable.

Working Conditions

The role requires the ability to work night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week. Staff may float between units or locations as needed, and weekend shifts are required every other week. Candidates must be available to work during catastrophic events and may be assigned to specific teams during emergencies.

Patient Population

Care will be provided to patients with a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and other surgical recovery cases.

Orientation

A 24-hour orientation session will be provided to ensure smooth integration into the unit and its protocols.

Uniform Requirements

Scrubs must be navy blue or white as per facility dress code guidelines.
