Registered Nurse (RN) – Whole House Float ICU/PCU/MS
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Whole House Float team, providing care across the ICU, PCU, and Medical-Surgical (MS) units. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in all three specialties and should have experience managing patient ratios of at least 1:5.
Scheduling Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift Details: 3×12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- Charting: Experience with EPIC required
- Floating: Staffing needs reviewed every 4 hours, with potential to float 2-3 times per shift
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
- Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday during the 13-week contract
- First-Time Travelers: Welcome
- Local Candidates: Accepted, adhering to radius rule criteria
- Requests for Time Off (RTO): All requests must be included at the time of submission
- Call-Off Policy: Facility may call off one shift per 2 weeks
Required License & Certifications
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Pending License Accepted: Yes (with specific conditions)
Required Clinical Skills
- Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, central line care, arterial line management, and blood product administration
- Experience in tracheostomy management and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilator management
- Skilled in managing chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac) and cardiac monitoring
- Experienced with continuous IV sedation protocols and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Minimum of 2 years ICU experience from a large Level 1 or Level 2 facility
Unit Details
- ICU average ratio: 2:1
- PCU average ratio: 5:1
- MS average ratio: 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)
