ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position requires a candidate with recent ICU experience to provide specialized care in an Intermediate Critical Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4, ensuring high-quality care and monitoring of critically ill patients.
• Utilize advanced skills in telemetry and cardiac telemetry, including titration of cardiac drips.
• Respond to rapid response team calls and effectively manage emergency situations.
• Administer and manage feeding tubes and adhere to heparin protocols.
• Provide care to patients experiencing conditions such as DKA, Sickle Cell, Sepsis, Respiratory Distress, Pneumonia, Heart Failure, and Stroke.
• Float as necessary to Med Surg units with a 1:6 patient ratio.
• Participate in weekend shifts, covering at least four weekends in a six-week schedule.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience.
• Certification in ACLS and BCLS.
• Skills in IV start, cardiac telemetry, and rapid response.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in MS/Tele, titrating vasoactive drips, and care of ventilated patients.
• Knowledge of wound care and use of wound vacs.
• Certification in NHISS.

Job Details

• Orientation: 36 hours.
• Self-scheduling with staff approval for balance.
• All shifts missed should be made up within the same week, if possible; otherwise, time will be added to the contract’s end.

Special Procedures and Equipment

Familiarity with special procedures and equipment, including the use of BiPAP, CPAP, and Optiflow is essential.

Scrubs

Navy or Navy and White scrubs required.

Additional Notes

Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting this specialty role. Recent ICU experience is a critical requirement for this position.
