Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical/Telemetry

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Medical/Surgical/Telemetry to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role involves providing exceptional care to patients with a focus on pulmonary conditions, respiratory issues, and overall medical management.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias, managing patients’ cardiovascular health.
• Provide care for patients with tracheostomies, chest tubes, and support for oxygen therapies (BiPAP/CPAP).
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Float to other units as required within the service line.
• Self-schedule shifts while balancing department needs and approved RTO (with a maximum of 7 days for AYA auto offers).

Patient Population

The unit caters to patients with conditions such as:

• Pulmonary diseases
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Asthma
• General medical conditions requiring longer lengths of stay

Work Schedule

• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Total hours: 36 hours per week.
• Weekend Requirement: 3 weekends (6 weekend shifts) every 6 weeks.

Qualifications

Minimum experience required includes:

• At least 2 years of nursing experience.
• Unit accepts first-time travelers.
• Telemetry experience is preferred.
• Certifications required: BCLS and NIH.

Unit Details

• Ratios: 5:1 with potential for 6:1 based on patient acuity.
• Unit systems utilized: EPIC, PYXIS, SBAR.
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to starting in this specialty.

Uniform Requirements

Scrubs are not provided. Navy blue and white scrubs in any combination are required.
