Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele Float

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for an ED Holding Support position located within the Float Pool. This unit will care for patients within the Emergency Department who are waiting for inpatient beds and may require a range of medical and surgical care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with various medical and surgical diagnoses.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications, including blood products and insulin, and manage IVs and central lines.
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams as necessary for patient care.
• Deliver skilled nursing care in the management of colostomies, feeding tubes, renal failure, and isolation precautions.
• Assist with CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management.
• Float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed.
• Participate in emergency response during catastrophic events or disasters.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience: 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Traveler Experience: Previous travel nursing experience is required.
• Skills:
  • Telemetry monitoring and management.
  • Phlebotomy and peripheral line management.
  • Interpretation of ABGs and effective oral suctioning.
  • Experience in handling chest tubes and performing isolation precautions.
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required.
• Preferred Skills/Certifications: NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, and management of pre/post hemodialysis patients.

Job Details

• Target Ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele, 1:4 for PCU level patients.
• Shift: Night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week.
• RTO: Maximum of 7 days.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required.

Unit Details

This unit, known as EDIP, serves as the inpatient holding area for patients within the Emergency Department, addressing a variety of adult medical and surgical diagnoses. The unit is equipped with standard monitoring equipment, including cardiac monitors and IV pumps.

Scheduling and Orientation

Orientation for this position is 12 hours, with schedules managed by unit managers.

Scrubs

Scrubs are navy blue.

All candidates will undergo EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty. Due to high turnover, interviews will be conducted for all applicants.
