Job Description
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in L&D nursing, with the ability to provide exceptional care in a fast-paced environment.
Shift Requirements
- 3×12 hour shifts (Night: 19:00 – 07:30)
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
- Certifications required: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Course
- Travel experience in L&D preferred
Responsibilities
The Labor and Delivery RN will provide comprehensive care for patients during the labor and delivery process, including but not limited to:
- Conducting assessments and monitoring fetal heart rates
- Performing Non-Stress Tests (NST) and related evaluations
- Managing high-risk deliveries and assisting with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Administering medications and IV therapy, including managing insulin drips and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Performing assessments and interventions for complications such as pre-eclampsia, placental issues, and multiple gestation
- Providing education and support to patients and families during labor and postpartum
- Participating in emergency situations, including neonatal resuscitation and postpartum hemorrhage management
Floating Requirements
May float to Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for OB-specific care alongside a primary RN. An orientation period will be required upon first shift.
Work Schedule & Holiday Requirements
Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
Additional Skills and Experience
- Expertise in external and internal fetal monitoring
- Experience with managing pain relief methods, including epidural anesthesia and general anesthesia
- Ability to provide couplet care for multiple births
- Knowledge of Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
Unit Information
This position primarily involves working with Labor and Delivery patients, providing high-quality care throughout the birthing process.
