Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg/Telemetry

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Med/Surg/Telemetry to join our team. This position involves providing comprehensive care in a fast-paced medical-surgical unit with telemetry capabilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in acute care settings and be proficient in telemetry monitoring and managing a variety of patient conditions.

Shift Information

• Nights: 4×12-Hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
• Floating Requirement: May float to other units as necessary

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, manage dysrhythmias, and provide appropriate interventions.
• Administer medications and perform complex clinical procedures, including IV therapy and blood product administration.
• Manage patient care for a diverse range of medical conditions, including diabetes, renal failure, respiratory issues, and post-operative recovery.
• Utilize Rapid Response and Code Blue protocols effectively as needed.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding diagnosis and care plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communication using electronic health record systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Med/Surg/Telemetry setting.
• Must possess a valid BLS and NIHSS certification.
• Previous traveler experience is accepted; first-time travelers are welcome.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred but not required.
• Additional certifications such as ACLS and telemetry monitoring skills are highly desirable.

Patient Population

Caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including:

• Diabetes
• Dementia
• COPD
• Sepsis
• Encephalopathy
• GI Bleed
• Renal Failure
• Heart Failure

Unit Information

The unit operates on a 1:6 nurse-patient ratio, promoting high-quality patient care and effective workload management. The staff is expected to participate actively in emergency response teams, including during catastrophic events.

Orientation and Attire

• Orientation: 24 hours
• Scrubs: Navy Blue or White
