Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for our Medicine/Surgical and Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting and will possess the ability to manage a diverse patient population effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality patient care in accordance with established protocols and best practices.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, including the use of Rapid Response Teams.
• Perform various medical procedures such as IV insulin protocols, colostomy care, and management of feeding tubes.
• Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral line care and phlebotomy.
• Assist with pre- and post-hemodialysis management and related patient care.
• Utilize non-invasive airway management techniques and provide wound care as needed.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.

Required Skills and Certifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical/surgical or telemetry setting.
• Experience with medications and protocols for managing various health conditions.
• Required certification: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
• Accepts first-time travelers and locals with potential rate differences.

Preferred Skills and Additional Experience:

• Knowledge in telemetry, management of dysrhythmias, and accessing ports.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system and interpretation of ABGs.
• Management of tracheostomy and surgical drains.

Job Details:

• Target patient care ratio: 1:5-6.
• 12-hour night shifts available; contracts of 13-26 weeks accepted.
• Mandatory participation in a Storm Team or Hurricane Team, with potential for required reporting during catastrophic events.
• Floating may be required between units as needed.
• Weekend shifts: 12-16 required per contract.

Patient Population:

The patient population includes individuals with various conditions, such as dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleeding, anemia, and hip fractures, along with typical M/S diagnoses.

Unit Orientation:

Orientation includes 24 hours on the unit, with a week-long hospital orientation where travelers must be available for classes each day.

Uniform Requirements:

Scrubs must be navy and white.

Additional Notes:

All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty.
