Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. This position requires a commitment to patient care and the ability to handle critical situations effectively.

Shift Details

• Shift: 12 Hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend Expectations: Every other weekend
• Holiday Expectations: 1 major holiday and 1 minor holiday per year

Unit Information

The unit consists of 16 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2. You will work alongside two clinical technicians who assist with patient care.

Patient Population

The Registered Nurse will care for a diverse range of patients, including those with:

• Stroke / acute ischemic stroke
• Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)
• Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)
• Subdural hematoma (SDH)
• Brain tumors
• Cerebral edema / increased intracranial pressure (ICP)
• Hydrocephalus
• Acute respiratory failure
• Sepsis / septic shock
• Pneumonia
• Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
• Exacerbations of COPD and asthma
• Acute heart failure / pulmonary edema
• Acute kidney injury (AKI)
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS)
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Acute liver failure
• Severe electrolyte abnormalities

Skills and Qualifications

• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience required, cardiac experience not necessary
• Ability to read telemetry strips is required
• Familiarity with titratable drips, including norepinephrine, epinephrine, vasopressin, phenylephrine, and dopamine, is essential

Equipment Utilized

• Mechanical ventilators
• High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)

Other Expectations

Candidates must be willing to complete an ECG exam on the second day of employment. Epic access is necessary for documentation. Floating between specific units may be required.

Navy blue scrubs are required for this position.
