Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical specialty. The role encompasses working with adult and geriatric patients, providing care for general medical and surgical needs. Candidates should be prepared for potential exposure to COVID patients and the possibility of working during inclement weather events.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients on the unit.
• Manage patient assessments, care plans, and treatments based on individual patient needs.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses effectively.
• Participate in teamwork during unit meetings, including mandatory attendance every month.
• Engage in patient education and support for their families.
• Handle emergency situations effectively, including participation in a Storm Team or Hurricane Team as necessary.

Shift Details

• 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• 36 or 48 hours per week schedules are available.
• Every other weekend work is required.
• Must be available to work on holidays.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• EPIC experience is mandatory.
• BCLS certification is required.
• First-time travelers are accepted.
• Available to float to similar units and alternate care locations when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPI certification is preferred.
• Experience as a charge nurse is advantageous.

Patient Care Focus

Care will primarily involve general medical/surgical patients, with a daily census averaging around 43 patients. Familiarity with procedures like Heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high flow oxygen administration is beneficial.

Unit Orientation

New hires will receive 24 hours of unit orientation to ensure preparedness for the role.

Additional Information

Scrubs are not provided; navy blue scrubs must be supplied by the nurse. Must pass EKG testing prior to commencing the role. This position is essential in times of emergencies or disasters, and contracted staff may be re-assigned as needed throughout their employment.
