Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a dynamic Medical Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will have experience in general medical and surgical nursing, with the ability to manage various patient care responsibilities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with general medical and surgical diagnoses.
• Manage patient assignments with a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6.
• Monitor and administer medications, including heparin drips and high-flow oxygen therapy, as directed.
• Utilize electronic health record systems (EPIC) for documentation and communication.
• Participate in daily team meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
• Be prepared to care for patients with COVID-19 as necessary.
• Fulfill the role of charge nurse as assigned during night shifts.
• Assist with wound vac dressing changes and short-term BiPap respiratory support.
• Work as part of an Inclement Weather Team during adverse weather conditions.
• Participate in unit orientation for new staff members.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• Epic experience is mandatory.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
• Certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and experience in charge nursing are preferred.
• Must be able to work holidays and have flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Schedule Details

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Available hours: 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Every other weekend commitment is required.
• Unit orientation will last 24 hours.
• Call requirement if scheduled for a preassigned shift.

Additional Information

• The traveler may be assigned to work on a Storm Team or Hurricane Team, and must report to work during catastrophic events or disasters as needed.
• All staff are expected to attend scheduled unit team meetings monthly, with additional meetings for night shift staff held quarterly.
• Scrubs are not provided; navy-colored scrubs are required.
