Labor and Delivery Nurse
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Nurse to join a dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess the required clinical skills and a passion for providing exceptional care to patients in the obstetrics setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care for patients during labor and delivery, assessing maternal and fetal well-being.
- Utilize appropriate techniques and equipment for monitoring during labor, including fetal heart monitoring.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient management.
- Assist in various surgical procedures, such as cesarean sections and tubal ligations.
- Adhere to AWHONN guidelines to maintain optimal patient-to-nurse ratios.
- Educate new mothers on postpartum care and breastfeeding practices.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate medical records utilizing the EMR system, Meditech.
Qualifications
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Intermediate or above EFM.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing, including travel experience.
- Ability to work 36 hours per week, including every other weekend and holiday rotations.
- Willingness to float to Post-Partum as needed.
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
- 12 labor beds, 5 antepartum beds, and 2 operating rooms.
- Emergency room with 6 OB triage beds.
- Approximately 150-200 births per month, accommodating both high-risk and routine OB cases.
- On-site neonatologist and OB hospitalist available 24/7.
Additional Information
- Orientation will include 2 shifts specific to the unit.
- OR technicians will assist with surgical procedures and are involved in patient care activities.
- There is a lactation consultant available for support.
