Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift. This role ensures safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care for patients across various settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
- Coordinate patient care through collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Initiate, utilize, and document appropriate protocols and standards of care.
- Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by a physician or standard protocols; document according to policy.
- Identify and meet patient and family learning and discharge needs at admission and throughout the care episode.
- Provide clinical supervision for LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
- Complete education and competency testing specific to patient population, age, procedures, and protocols per unit standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of current experience in a large OR.
- Ability to scrub and assist in surgical procedures.
- Must exhibit teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment is required.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with Epic software preferred, but training will be provided.
- Experience in Orthopedics, ENT, and/or vascular procedures is a plus.
Education
Required: One of the following:
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
Certifications & Licensure
Required:
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
- BLS certification is required.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS (if obtained) must be completed through accredited organizations.
Preferred:
- PALS certification preferred.
- ACLS certification preferred.
Schedule
The position follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with no scrub required.
