Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU

Job Description

We are seeking experienced and dedicated Registered Nurses to join our Surgical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and managing complex medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for patients with high-acuity surgical conditions.
• Monitor and manage patients requiring cardiac drips and IV insulin protocols.
• Perform and manage care for patients with chest tubes, fresh tracheostomies, and feeding tubes.
• Administer epidurals and conduct Doppler flap checks.
• Care for postoperative patients and ensure effective recovery processes.
• Potentially precept and mentor students and nursing staff as needed.
• Assume unit charge nurse responsibilities as required, with appropriate training provided.
• Float between different care levels (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) as operational needs dictate.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a relevant acute care setting.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BCLS are required.
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring.
• Experience with sudden patient acuity changes and emergencies.

Work Schedule

Shift: Day, 4×12 hour format (07:00 – 19:30). Travelers will be expected to work every other weekend per their contract, with flexibility required based on operational needs.

Staffing Ratios

Patient ratios of 1:3 to 1:4, ensuring adequate support and attention to patient needs.

Important Notes

• Refusal to float to different care levels may result in contract termination.
• Travelers are required to make up shifts as necessary based on Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) status.
