Sterile Processing Technician

Job Description

The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the effective sterilization and decontamination of medical instruments and equipment in a healthcare setting. This position requires adherence to strict protocols and standards to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform sterilization, decontamination, assembly, and wrapping of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Maintain compliance with national certification standards and facility policies.
• Assist in the preparation of instruments for various surgical specialties, including neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, orthopedic, transplant, and GYN.
• Participate in holiday rotations and flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.
• Float between different facilities as required to meet operational demands.
• Engage with emergency response teams if assigned during hurricane season.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in sterile processing, including sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping.
• Level 1 Trauma experience is required.
• Experience with a variety of surgical cases is preferred: neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, orthopedic, transplant, and GYN.
• National certifications from CBSPD and/or HSPA are required.
• BLS certification is not required for this position.

Additional Information

• Guaranteed hours include a maximum of one shift cancellation every two weeks.
• Parking fees apply during nights and weekends with a one-time payment for a parking pass.
• RTO (Requests for Time Off) must be submitted at the time of application; no requests will be accepted post-contract signing.
