Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Medical/Surgical care to support our unit that focuses on stroke stepdown patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to adult patients, managing a wide range of medical conditions.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown
• Common Diagnoses: Stroke, altered mental status, renal failure, dialysis, COPD, CHF, isolation, general medical-surgical conditions, pneumonia, pulmonary issues
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Number of Beds: 64
• Specialty Equipment: IV pumps, N/G tubes, feeding tubes

Shift Information

This role requires working night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Block scheduling is not guaranteed, and some floating may be required across different units as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience
• Current AHA BLS certification
• NIHSS certification is required (can be obtained prior to start)
• Active NY nursing license and all other active RN licenses verified through NURSYS report
• Experience with electronic medical records, preferably EPIC
