Respiratory Therapist

Job Overview

The Respiratory Therapist position involves providing respiratory care and support to adult and geriatric patients in critical care and emergency settings. The role requires collaboration with Rapid Response Teams and involves a variety of respiratory support functions throughout the facility.

Shift Information

Shift: Day 3×12-Hour (07:00 – 19:30)

Weekend and holiday availability is required.

No floating between units is required.

Time Off Restrictions

• Up to 2 pre-approved time-off requests are permitted per contract.
• The system will auto-approve time off requests of 14 days or less.
• Every other winter and summer holiday is required, and no time off requests will be approved during these periods.
• No time off on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day.

Experience Requirements

• 3 years of Respiratory Therapy experience is required.
• RRT is preferred; CRT candidates with 5 years of experience may be considered.
• Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department experience are required.

Certifications

• ACLS and BLS certifications are required.

Licensure

Active Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure is required.

Additional Requirements

• Experience with airway management, including extubation, intubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care.
• Comfort in caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomies.
• Experience supporting bronchoscopy and sputum specimen collection.
• Ventilator management experience, including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, pressure-alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation.
• Knowledge of chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas collection, and ABG interpretation.

Equipment Experience

• BiPAP and CPAP systems
• Mechanical ventilators
• High-flow oxygen and other oxygen-delivery systems
• Nebulizer and aerosol medication-delivery systems

Charting System

The charting system utilized is Cerner.

Scrub Color

Charcoal/Dark Grey scrubs are required.
