Surgical Technician

We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Technician to assist the surgical team in preparing for surgical procedures within the operating room. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a sterile environment, ensuring the smooth operation of surgical cases, and providing technical support during procedures.

Job Summary

The Surgical Technician will be responsible for various tasks, including set-up and maintenance of sterile fields, passing instruments and supplies to surgeons, and performing a variety of technical skills related to surgical care.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare for each surgical case by accurately checking required supplies and equipment.
• Assemble appropriate supplies and equipment prior to operative procedures.
• Set up operative instrumentation and maintain a sterile field for expedient retrieval and utilization.
• Collect data on assigned surgical cases according to established performance standards.
• Clean equipment and facilities as necessary.
• Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities.
• Perform clerical duties as needed.
• Complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse (RN) according to established standards.
• Label solutions in accordance with established standards.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Scrub technician experience: Preferred
• Operating room experience and/or training course: Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Surgery Technician (CST) certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification: Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
• National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certification: Required
