Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The position requires a commitment to providing exceptional care in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Shift Details

• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Based on unit needs and demands

Facility Information

• Type: Emergency Room (ER) / Trauma Center
• Bed Count: 56 beds (up to 70 with hall beds)
• Fast Track Capacity: 6 beds
• Triage Area: Separate with 5 beds; travelers may participate following assessment
• Holding Area: 18 designated beds for inpatient holds
• Psych/Sec Rooms: Separate locked hall with 6 private treatment rooms

Position Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients presenting to the ER
• Manage patient assessments, triage processes, and coordination of care
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including ED Physicians and Mid-Levels
• Administer medications and perform procedures as necessary
• Support in-house security and ensure patient safety at all times

Patient Care

• Typical Patient Volume: 170-200 patients per day
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:3, can increase to 1:4 for low acuity patients
• Common Diagnoses: Cardiac issues, Stroke, Sepsis, DKA, Respiratory distress, Abdominal pain, and Mental health concerns

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency room or trauma center
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
• Ability to handle high-stress situations and provide compassionate care
• Knowledge of Epic EMR system is preferred

Additional Information

• Orientation: 1 day of compliance and policies, followed by 1 day of department-specific orientation
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Any professional colors
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday in November/December based on unit needs
• No floating requirements associated with this position
