Registered Nurse (RN) – CVICU

Job Description

Join a dynamic team as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), where you will provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population, including those undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries such as CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS.

Shift Requirements

• Night shifts: 3×12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirements: Must work 2 out of the 3 major holidays

Unit Overview

The CVICU serves a mixed acuity population with a focus on:

• Cardiovascular surgeries
• Thoracic surgeries
• Requires comfort with both ICU and some progressive care unit (PCU) ratios
• ICU ratios of 1:2; mixed acuity ratios 1:3-4 (very rare)

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
• Caring for post-cardiac surgery patients.
• Management of arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines.
• Administration of blood products and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Care of ventilated patients, including ventilator management.
• Handling pre/post-cardiac catheterization interventions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 months of nursing experience required.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS; NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred.
• Previous charge experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs.

• All rooms equipped with overhead lifts; telemetry monitoring available.
• Charting system utilized: Cerner.
