Registered Nurse (RN) – Step Down Unit

Job Description

An experienced Registered Nurse (RN) is sought to join a Step Down Unit on a travel assignment. The ideal candidate must possess prior ICU experience and be proficient in the use of Epic EMR.

The RN will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring a higher level of monitoring and clinical intervention. Candidates should exhibit strong critical thinking skills and the ability to recognize changes in patient conditions while working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to individuals needing step-down or intermediate-level nursing care.
• Monitor patient conditions, vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and responses to treatment.
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient status.
• Administer medications and treatments following established protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license or authorization to practice.
• Previous ICU experience – REQUIRED.
• Epic EMR experience – REQUIRED.
• Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to manage multiple patients in a high-acuity setting.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Step Down or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience.
• Experience with continuous cardiac monitoring and complex patient care.
