Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C)

Job Overview

This is a temporary to permanent opportunity for a Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) in an Infectious Disease Clinic. The position is open to both local and non-local candidates.

Schedule

• Days: Monday – Friday
• Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Weekends: Off

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs including height, weight, pulse oximetry, and vision testing.
• Prepare for exams by positioning and draping patients, and recording histories, medications, and allergies.
• Set up and assist with various procedures such as dressing changes and Pap smears.
• Administer injections including immunizations and both intradermal and intramuscular shots.
• Collect specimens, ensuring proper labeling for sputum, stool, throat, urine, vaginal samples, and wounds.
• Perform laboratory tests including strep tests and urinalysis.
• Handle office duties such as authorization forms, chart preparation, insurance verification, supply ordering, and appointment scheduling.
• Demonstrate professional skills including administering medication, performing follow-up calls, rooming patients, and suture removal.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) is required.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience as an MA-C in an adult outpatient clinic setting.
• BLS certification is required.
• Experience with EPIC charting is mandatory.
