Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The RN will provide exceptional care to patients in a high-acuity surgical NICU environment, focusing on the management and treatment of newborns and infants with critical health conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonates and infants in the NICU, ensuring the best possible outcomes.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, making necessary adjustments to care plans.
• Utilize advanced technological equipment, including ventilators, incubators, and specialty gases.
• Assist in high-risk deliveries and perform necessary interventions as needed.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous therapies effectively.
• Implement care plans for complex cases including managing tracheostomies, gastrostomy tubes, and other specialized needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate optimal patient care.
• Participate in family-centered care, providing education and support to families during their hospital stay.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Level 4 NICU or strong Level 3 surgical experience.
• Current California nursing license required, or an ETA for when the license will be posted.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
• Willingness to float between units including Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) within scope of practice.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including days and nights, as well as weekends and holidays as required.
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Special Requirements

• Experience with complex procedures such as central line care, ventilator management, and pre/post-operative care.
• Able to comfortably handle line changes with multiple drips and assess the needs of surgical NICU patients.
• Must have reliable transportation for travel between multiple locations, if necessary.
