Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Telemetry unit. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with cardiac and neurological conditions, ensuring their safety and comfort while promoting optimal health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor patient vital signs and heart rhythms, promptly identifying any changes in condition.
• Administer medications, including IV cardiac medications and critical drips, adhering to established protocols.
• Collaborate with medical staff and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on health management and discharge planning.
• Utilize Epic for accurate patient charting and documentation.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment, following infection control guidelines.

Qualifications

• A valid New York State nursing license is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred; may be obtained prior to starting.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent telemetry or stepdown experience.
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms; must pass a hospital proctored test with >80% accuracy for rhythm identification.
• Experience managing IV cardiac medications and continuous infusions is a plus.
• Familiarity with stroke care and management.
• Flu vaccine or approved exemption is required.

Shift Details

This position requires a commitment to 3 12-hour night shifts, from 19:00 to 07:30. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5.
