Registered Nurse (Telemetry)
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Telemetry to join our team in a Med Surg Tele unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in patient monitoring and care, specifically in a telemetry setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive patient care in a Telemetry unit, including monitoring vital signs and interpreting cardiac rhythms.
- Administer medications and manage IV cardiac medications and continuous infusions.
- Participate in stroke care and management, ensuring appropriate protocols are followed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans.
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record system (Epic).
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards while delivering care to patients.
Qualifications
- Current New York State RN License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (can be obtained prior to starting).
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience, with at least one year of recent experience in a Telemetry or stepdown unit.
- Proficiency in rhythm interpretation, with the ability to pass a hospital proctored test (>80% accuracy in rhythm identification and 100% accuracy in identifying critical rhythms).
- Experience managing critical drips and familiarity with stroke care and management is a plus.
- Documentation experience using Epic or similar electronic health record systems.
- Flu vaccine or exemption required for employment.
Work Environment
Work will be conducted on a night shift schedule, with typical hours from 19:00 to 07:30, three times a week.
Patient Ratio
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5.
