Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, delegating, and coordinating nursing care for assigned patients throughout the scheduled shift. This role requires collaboration with other members of the healthcare team and is vital in ensuring patient care meets established standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough nursing assessments to identify actual and potential patient needs and problems.
- Develop organized and prioritized plans of care in accordance with established protocols.
- Supervise and assign patient care duties to nursing team members including LPNs and Nursing Assistants, based on acuity and staff proficiency.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency and life-threatening situations.
- Document all assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient/family responses to treatment.
- Administer medications and treatments, including IV therapies, blood products, and chemotherapeutics.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to infection control and safety policies and procedures.
- Receive and evaluate physician orders, ensuring correct implementation according to policy standards.
Qualifications
- Must possess a current state nursing license.
- 1-2 years of recent acute care experience required.
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- Ability to float to all medical/surgical floors as needed.
Unit Information
The position is situated in a 170-bed facility with a focus on providing quality healthcare services including lab, radiology, respiratory care, emergency services, and general surgery among others.
Shift Information
Shift hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM with the requirement to work every other weekend at a minimum. There may be occasions of low census; however, this typically will not affect temporary staff assignments.
Work Environment
The nursing unit accommodates a diverse patient population with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 6-7:1. The environment promotes a collaborative and supportive approach to patient care, ensuring all team members contribute to the overall wellbeing of the patients.
