Registered Nurse (RN) – NICU

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with specialized experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a passion for providing exceptional care to critically ill newborns.

Shift Availability

• 4×12-Hour Shifts: 19:00 – 07:30 (No call)
• 3×12-Hour Shifts: 19:00 – 07:30 (With call requirement: at least 1, 12-hour call shift bi-weekly)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates with various medical conditions.
• Float to other NICU units or facilities as necessary.
• Participate in weekend coverage on a rotating schedule unless changes in need dictate otherwise.
• Utilize Pyxis and Omnicell systems for medication management and administration.
• Document patient information accurately using the EPIC system.

Patient Population

The registered nurse will care for infants born at 22 weeks gestation and greater, including those with:

• Abdominal wall defects
• Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)
• Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS)/Respiratory failure syndrome (RFS)
• Drug exposure/withdrawal
• Hypoglycemia
• Sepsis
• Tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF)
• Duodenal atresia
• Diaphragmatic hernia
• Urethral stenosis
• Myelomeningocele
• Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)

Special Procedures and Equipment

Candidates should be familiar with the following procedures and equipment:

• Full body cooling
• Chest tube management
• Surgical repairs of anomalies (excluding cardiac)
• Tracheostomy management
• Administration of Avastin and laser eye surgery

• Artic Sun
• Blanketroll
• Jet ventilator, High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation (HFOV), Draeger ventilator, High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Bubble CPAP
• Alaris and Philips central
• B Braun and Infinity feeding pumps
• Atom Dual Incubators, GE Dual Incubators, Draeger Caleos, Radiant warmers
• External shunt and ostomy management

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of NICU II and III experience required.
• At least 1 year of experience using the EPIC documentation system.
• Current certifications in BLS, NRP, STABLE.
• Active nursing license in the state of South Carolina.
• No first-time travelers will be considered for this position.
