Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to work in a Long Term Care (LTC) setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for screening, evaluating, and rehabilitating patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders while adhering to all regulatory and clinical practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct standardized assessments and implement evidence-based practices to guide clinical interventions.
- Monitor and assess patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed while maintaining accurate clinical records.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes for effectiveness, modifying services based on evaluations and making necessary referrals.
- Provide consultation and counseling to patients and their families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding speech disorders.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and interdisciplinary health team members about patient progress, barriers, and treatment strategies.
- Compile comprehensive discharge summaries that reflect services provided in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Document all required information in the electronic documentation system and uphold patient record confidentiality per company policy.
- Accurately record treatment minutes as mandated by regulatory and clinical standards.
- Participate in meetings related to patient care, such as utilization reviews and rehabilitation conferences.
- Engage in facility and company required training, in-services, and conferences.
- Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as required by clinical practices.
- Supervise and support clinical fellows or student Speech-Language Pathologists when applicable.
- Adhere to the American Speech-Hearing-Language Association (ASHA) guidelines and relevant state practice acts, maintaining ethical standards during professional practice.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist.
- Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) settings is required.
- Active Missouri State License is required.
- CCC certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist is required.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience holding an active Clinical Competence Certification (CCC).
- New graduates are welcome, provided they have Level II experience and not just observational experience.
- References may be required upon request.
Work Schedule
The position requires regular hours from Monday to Friday for 8-hour shifts, with flexible start times between 6 AM and 10 AM. Weekend work may be required only if a holiday occurs during the weekday schedule.
