Polysomnographic Technologist

The Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for preparing patients and equipment for sleep disorder testing, monitoring polysomnography, and documenting results according to established policies.

Schedule

This position requires working a 12-hour night shift from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, with varying schedules. Employees are expected to work two major holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day, as well as one minor holiday, such as the Friday after Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve.

Responsibilities

• Prepare adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients for sleep disorders testing.
• Monitor polysomnograms and accurately document findings as per policy.
• Exhibit strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrate expertise in recognizing sleep disorders, sleep activities, abnormalities, movement arousals, and respiratory functions.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty of sleep disorders.
• One year of direct experience in sleep study activities is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
• Must possess current and unrestricted certification or registration as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).
