Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-risk obstetrics and be comfortable providing care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Information

• Unit: Labor and Delivery
• Bed Capacity: 2 OB ED beds, 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor rooms, and 2 operating rooms
• Average Deliveries: Approximately 300 deliveries per month
• Ratios: Follow state and AWHONN guidelines

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shifts Available: Days
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (may work more depending on rotations)
• Holidays: Required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery nursing
• Certifications Required:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Cerner Experience: Required

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to high-risk obstetric patients and their newborns
• Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Perform nursing assessments, develop care plans, and monitor patients’ conditions
• Document patient care activities and outcomes accurately
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to perinatal care standards
• Float to postpartum as needed; float to NICU may also be required

Additional Information

• Common Diagnoses: High-risk obstetric patients with multiple comorbidities, including multiple births
• Special Considerations: Experience with surrogates and multiple birth scenarios is a plus
• IV Skills: Must possess strong intravenous skills
• Orientation: Floor-specific orientation lasting 2 shifts
• Resource Nursing: A resource nurse is available to support clinical staff during shifts
