ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool team. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment, working across various ICU units as well as MedSurg/Tele units.

Position Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
• Holidays: Required based on unit needs
• Orientation: 2 shifts of orientation, with a third shift on an as-needed basis

Unit Information

The ICU Float Pool encompasses various areas, including medical, surgical, trauma, cardiothoracic ICUs, and a neuro-specific ICU. The expected nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2 for ICUs and 1:4 for Telemetry units.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required
• Level 1 trauma center experience is a must
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification; NIHSS certification preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Ability to provide care independently when floated to different units
• Expected to manage all critical drips and respiratory support equipment, including vents and BiPAP
• Must possess strong tele monitor interpretation skills
• Participate in bedside report and conduct quality skin assessments within the first four hours of shift
• Complete required skills assessments in areas like Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, which are critical to the role

Additional Information

Staffing assignments will be communicated through a texting service, and all nurses should be prepared to receive assignments 30-60 minutes in advance. Floating to sister locations will be required, and travelers should understand and agree to these expectations during the prescreen interview.
