ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced ICU Float Pool Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have a solid background in intensive care, with experience in Level 1 trauma centers preferred. This position requires a commitment to patient-centered care, teamwork, and adaptability in various ICU and MedSurg/Tele settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in various ICU areas.
• Float between different ICU units and MedSurg/Tele units as needed.
• Perform assessments, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and manage critical drips.
• Utilize various respiratory support equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP.
• Complete bedside reports and conduct skin assessments as required.
• Document all patient interactions and care in a timely manner.
• Participate in shift huddles and team meetings to ensure coordinated care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience in a Level 1 trauma setting.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BLS. NIHSS certification preferred.
• Demonstrated competence in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Ability to function independently in a dynamic environment.
• Strong understanding of maintaining sterile fields and infection control practices.
• Must be willing to float to various units and adapt to changing patient needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Scheduling Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours, primarily nights.
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4 weeks.
• Holidays: Availability required as per unit needs.
• Orientation: Two shifts of orientation with a potential third shift if necessary.

Additional Information

• All reports and assessments must be completed at the bedside.
• Response time for standby is expected to be within 30 minutes.
• All travelers must pass initial skills assessments for competency.
• Applicants should be adaptable and prepared for floating across multiple units.
