Emergency Room Nurse

Join our team as an Emergency Room Nurse in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role involves providing high-quality care to patients across a wide age range, from neonates to geriatrics, presenting with various emergency conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care in the Emergency Department.
• Triage patients based on acuity and emergency needs.
• Administer blood products and manage IV therapies.
• Perform phlebotomy and start IVs as necessary.
• Conduct procedural sedation and manage medication administration.
• Provide care for a range of conditions including cardiac arrest, stroke, trauma, and mental health evaluations.
• Supervise and support pediatric and adult patients in crisis situations.
• Utilize advanced life support techniques and equipment, including CPAP and BiPAP.
• Participate in the management of ventilated patients.
• Ensure adherence to isolation precautions and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• Active and unrestricted Michigan nursing license.
• Minimum of 3 years of emergency nursing experience required.
• Experience with combined adult and pediatric care in an emergency setting is necessary.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BCLS, NIH, PALS, and TNCC.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, preferably Epic.
• Must be able to float within service line and scope of practice as required.

Work Environment:

• Emergency Department with 27 patient rooms, averaging a daily census of 76.
• Staffing ratios of 1:4-5 across all shifts.
• Dedicated rooms for mental health evaluations and forensic care.
• 24/7 support from charge nurses, triage nurses, and house supervisors.
• Involvement in best practices as a Primary Stroke Center and pursuing a Trauma IV designation.

Additional Information:

• Every other weekend availability is required.
• Scrub color is navy blue.
• This unit accepts first-time travelers.
• Local travelers within 50 miles are not eligible.
