Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in labor and delivery and a passion for providing quality care to mothers and newborns.

Shift Requirements

• 3×12 or 4×12 shifts available

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in Labor and Delivery
• First-time travelers are not accepted

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN Intermediate Course

Floating Requirements

Nurses may float to the Emergency Department at another facility but will not take a primary assignment. OB-specific care will be provided alongside a primary RN. Nurses are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes early for a quick orientation on the first shift.

Holiday Requirements

Staff must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Guaranteed Hours

• 8 and 10-hour shifts: 40 hours in one workweek
• 3, 12-hour shifts: 36 hours in one workweek
• 4, 12-hour shifts: 48 hours in one workweek

Special Requirements

• Labor and Delivery travel experience
• Familiarity with facility births/month (200-300)
• Proficient in Non-Stress Tests (NST) and edema assessment
• Experience with External Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM)
• Knowledge of diabetes mellitus, malpresentations, and multiple gestations
• Management of placenta previa, pre-eclampsia, and premature rupture of membranes
• Ability to handle high-risk deliveries and perform vaginal deliveries
• Experience with neonate resuscitation and infant care
• Competence in IV management, administration of medications, and pain management
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system

Unit Information

This position involves working with Labor and Delivery patients. Responsibilities include monitoring mother’s and baby’s health, assisting in deliveries, and providing postpartum care.
