Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team within a dynamic healthcare environment. This position involves floating between multiple locations to provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Overview of Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in accordance with established protocols and best practices within the emergency department.
• Assess and triage incoming patients, utilizing clinical judgment to prioritize care.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including various IV drips.
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-level practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to devise and implement patient care plans.
• Monitor patient progress and response to treatment, making necessary adjustments based on clinical findings.
• Participate in training and mentorship, possibly precepting new staff as needed.
• Maintain professional standards and comply with safety and operational protocols.

Unit Information

• Level III Trauma Center with comprehensive stroke capabilities.
• Daily average of 135 patients, providing care for a variety of diagnoses, including trauma, pediatrics, and complex medical conditions.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on acuity, including 1:3-4 for general acute care, with more intensive ratios for trauma and critical cases.
• Busy emergency setting with a focus on teamwork and shared governance.

Qualifications

• Current RN license and appropriate certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS).
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an emergency room setting with similar patient volume and acuity level.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically Epic.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and demonstrate strong communication skills.
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam before contract signing.

Shift and Scheduling

• Hybrid scheduling model with a mix of self-scheduling and block scheduling to accommodate department needs.
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
• Holidays rotated with core staff.
• May float to assist with various needs as required by the unit.
