Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Room (ER) team. This role requires a dedicated professional with a strong background in emergency care, who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and is eager to help patients in critical situations.

Shift Details

• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation
• First to float as needed
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the emergency room setting.
• Assist in trauma and critical care management, including monitoring patient vitals and administering medications.
• Participate in team-based care and collaborate with physicians and mid-level providers.
• Utilize electronic health records (EPIC) for patient documentation and care coordination.
• Conduct triage for incoming patients and manage patient flow efficiently.
• Precept new staff as required and engage in orientation for new team members.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Room or critical care setting.
• Current certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS (AHA), and TNCC.
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 83% prior to signing the contract.
• EPIC experience is required for this role.

Unit Information

• Level III Trauma Center with capability to receive STEMI and stroke patients.
• Average of 70 patients treated in the ER daily.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4, depending on acuity levels.
• Collaboration with a dedicated team of physicians and other healthcare professionals, including in-house respiratory therapy and phlebotomy services.

Additional Information

• Travelers are permitted to participate in triage activities.
• Nursing staff may be involved in caring for patients held in the ER.
• Orientation period of 1-3 shifts based on experience.
• All nursing staff are required to wear navy scrubs, with undershirts also in navy.
