Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) will utilize the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift. This role ensures safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care for patients. The RN will be responsible for:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
- Coordinating patient care through collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Initiating, utilizing, and documenting appropriate protocols and standards of care.
- Administering medication and treatments as prescribed by physicians or standard protocols, and documenting according to policy.
- Identifying patient and family learning and discharge needs at admission and throughout the care episode.
- Providing clinical supervision to LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
- Completing patient population, age-specific, procedure, and protocol education and competency testing in accordance with unit standards.
Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of current experience in a large emergency department (ED) setting is required.
- Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to a fast-paced environment.
- Previous completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment is required.
- Must successfully pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test; candidates will have one opportunity to re-test if they fail the first time.
Certifications & Licensure
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License is required.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS are mandatory.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications must be completed through accepted organizations such as the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross.
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) is required.
Shift Details
Shift hours are from 1845 to 0715. Flexibility to float between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required.
