Cardiac PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cardiac PCU Registered Nurse (RN) for our Stepdown Cardiac unit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in telemetry nursing, specifically within surgical tele environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for patients with cardiac conditions, including myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and pre/post catheterization procedures.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings to manage dysrhythmias effectively.
• Administer medications, blood products, and perform chest tube management following established protocols.
• Conduct breathing treatments and care for patients with tracheostomies while adhering to sternal precautions.
• Assist in procedures such as cardioversion, defibrillation, and epicardial pacer management.
• Care for specialized cases such as LVAD and post-operative open heart surgery patients.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with compact license eligibility.
• Minimum of 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with surgical tele experience preferred.
• Experience in vascular management, including groin and radial band management.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Epic experience is a mandatory requirement.
• Ability to float to similar units and work every other weekend.
• Must demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing patient care needs.

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts, working 3 twelve-hour shifts per week. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 but may vary at night.
