Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – NICU
Overview
This position is for a Registered Nurse with a specialty in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The role requires significant experience and is focused on providing high-quality care to neonates in a Level III or IV NICU environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to infants, including those as early as 23-24 weeks gestation.
- Attend high-risk deliveries and assist in neonatal surgeries.
- Utilize advanced respiratory support methods, including CPAP/BiPap, High Frequency Ventilation, and Oscillation.
- Manage blood product administration and cardiac procedures such as cardioversion and defibrillation.
- Implement cooling and warming blankets as necessary.
- Insert and manage feeding tubes and PICC/Central lines.
- Administer medications via syringe pumps.
- Work collaboratively with a dedicated Admit Nurse in the unit.
- Possibly float to Pediatric and Newborn units, providing care primarily for infants.
- Participate in patient care at multiple locations within the region as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a NICU setting.
- Must possess an active compact nursing license.
- Willingness to float between different campuses as necessary.
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to handle high-stress situations delicately.
Schedule
Day shift available working 4×12-hour shifts (07:00 – 19:30). Block scheduling may be approved if preferred, allowing for consecutive shifts.
Unit Information
- The NICU has a capacity of 77 beds, with an average census of 50 patients.
- High demand for registered nurses, with rare instances of floating due to staffing requirements.
