Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown Unit

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown Unit. This position focuses on providing high-quality care to patients with a variety of common diagnoses, including but not limited to Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Pneumonia (PNA), Sepsis, Stroke/TIA, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Pulmonary Embolism (PE), and Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).

Shift Details

• Job Shift: Night Shift
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Experience in caring for stroke patients is essential.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4-5, utilizing virtual nursing support when necessary.
• Titrate drips as required, including but not limited to Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nicardipine, and Dobutamine.
• Monitor and evaluate patients using telemetry; nurses are responsible for reading strips while monitor technicians assist.
• Provide care in accordance with established policies and procedures, ensuring the utmost patient safety and comfort.

Additional Information

• Orientation: 3 shifts of orientation on the assigned shift.
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend, with additional opportunities if desired.
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays are rotated based on weekend schedules.
• Floating Requirement: First to float to other units as needed.
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy tops and bottoms.
