Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) plays a vital role in improving residents’ quality of life through targeted therapy aimed at enhancing their cognitive, communication, and swallowing abilities.

Position Overview

The SLP develops comprehensive treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each resident. This includes strategies to improve communication, better facilitate understanding, and minimize risks such as aspiration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, guide, and direct the delivery of speech-language pathology and audiology services in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Design and implement effective treatment plans according to established facility policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective care for residents.
• Evaluate residents’ speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing capabilities to identify specific needs.
• Provide education and support to residents and their families regarding communication and swallowing strategies.

Qualifications

• A valid, unrestricted license in speech-language pathology in the state.
• Completion of the educational requirements for licensure in speech-language pathology.
• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
• Knowledge of skilled nursing home regulations and guidelines related to long-term care.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Work Schedule

This position typically involves 8-hour shifts with occasional weekend requirements.
