CVICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Details

Schedule: Night shifts, 7 PM – 7 AM, 3 shifts per week (with an option for 4 shifts per week, including overtime after 48 hours).

Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: ASAP (exact date dependent on EPIC experience/training schedule)

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, ensuring timely interventions and care adjustments.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Support and educate patients and their families regarding care plans and treatment options.
• Float to regular ICU and other units as needed, potentially caring for COVID-19 patients.

Qualifications

• Must have an active Virginia or Compact nursing license.
• A minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience is required.
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
• Flexibility to float to the regular ICU, CV stepdown, and/or cardiac telemetry units as needed.

EPIC Training

• EPIC Clin Doc training is required; specific class assignment will depend on the nurse’s prior EPIC experience:
• Clin Doc Accelerated: For RNs with 6+ months of EPIC experience in the last 12 months. This class includes approximately 4 hours of modules.
• Clin Doc 2 Day: For RNs with less than 6 months of EPIC experience in the last 12 months. No modules are required for this class.

Vaccine Requirements

• The flu vaccine is mandatory during the flu season (October 1st – March 31st).
• Religious or medical exemptions for the flu vaccine must comply with CMS guidelines, and requests will be reviewed and approved with proper documentation.
