Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a dynamic Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team. This position is a fantastic opportunity for candidates who are committed to providing exceptional care to adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries.

Job Details

• Unit: 7 East
• Type: Full-time
• Shift: Night 3×12-Hour (19:00 – 07:30)
• Shift Requirements: 36 hours per week with 6 weekend shifts scheduled every 6 weeks
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience required for first-time travelers

Patient Population

This PCU primarily cares for adult patients post-surgical intervention related to traumatic injuries. Typical patient diagnoses include:

• Surgical trauma
• Gunshot wounds
• Other penetrating injuries
• Assault-related injuries
• Motor vehicle accidents
• Falls

Unit Description

The 41-bed progressive care trauma/telemetry unit is primarily focused on delivering care to hemodynamically stable patients. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with flexibility to adjust up to 1:5 as needed. The unit features telemetry monitoring for up to 14 patients, ensuring timely and effective response to patient needs.

Qualifications

• Current AHA ACLS and BCLS certification required
• NIH Stroke certification required
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
