Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. This role encompasses supervising and directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff and coordinating care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking and independent judgment.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
• Acute care facility experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
• CPR certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
• AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS: Required
• AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required
• AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS: Required
• Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI): Required
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale: Required

Essential Functions

• Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses and care issues.
• Develops a care plan that prescribes interventions to attain desired outcomes.
• Implements the care plan, coordinates delivery of care, and employs strategies to promote health and maintain a safe environment.
• Evaluates patients’ progress toward the agreed-upon outcomes.
• Identifies desired outcomes for patients and their situations.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure effective care is delivered in a supportive and humane environment.
• Provides educational opportunities for patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Directly communicates health information to patients and their families.
• Participates in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegates duties appropriately and coordinates tasks of healthcare team members.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
