Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) plays a crucial role in the Operating Room by demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of surgical procedures and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and equipment. This position requires a professional who can maintain the sterile field and anticipate the needs of the surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures: Understands and applies knowledge to problem-solve during various surgical interventions. Verifies items on the physician’s preference card and accounts for supplies to ensure accurate patient billing.
• Equipment management: Properly utilizes and assembles surgical equipment and disposables while ensuring they are clean and sterilized. Checks that all instruments and equipment are ready and in working condition before procedures.
• Maintains sterile environments: Monitors the sterile field diligently and identifies any breaches in technique to uphold safety and hygiene standards.
• Timely setup: Organizes and sets up the sterile field with instruments, ensuring a prompt readiness for surgical procedures while keeping an accurate account of medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps in accordance with policy.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CST.
• Experience in Level 2 Trauma cases.
• Proficient in Orthopedic, Vascular, Neurological, General/Gynecological, and Urological surgical procedures.
• Recent travel work experience is highly preferred.
• Active certification from NBSTSA or NCCT is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required.

Work Schedule

• Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 hours guaranteed per week
• No on-call duties required
• Every third weekend commitment
