Histology Technologist

About the Position

The Histology Technologist will perform routine and complex histologic procedures, including processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry. This role is vital in ensuring accurate diagnostic results through quality control and meticulous observation.

Shift Information

• Schedule: Days, Monday to Friday (5×8 hours), 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM
• Holiday rotation required
• Occasional weekend requirement
• On-call coverage on weekends once every two months

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in histology
• Required Skills: Proficiency in Epic Beaker
• Certifications: BLS, HT(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in histotechnology, biology, or a related scientific discipline, knowledge of QIHC, and 5 years of experience with IHC and special stains

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex histologic procedures including processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining
• Conduct quality control on completed slides and identify issues that may affect diagnostic accuracy
• Document observations and results from tests, maintaining accurate records
• Ensure compliance with established laboratory policies and procedures

Additional Information

• Guaranteed hours may vary; the facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Parking costs may apply during nights and weekends; a one-time payment for a parking pass is required
• Travelers should note that during hurricane season (June through November), all employees may be assigned to emergency response teams
