Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

Delivers coordinated nursing care for patients or assigned groups of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, coordinating care with other disciplines while employing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
• Acute care facility experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• Department Specific License/Certifications: AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required

Essential Functions

• Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
• Analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses and care issues.
• Develops a care plan that prescribes interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
• Implements the care plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and ensure a safe environment.
• Evaluates progress toward achieving outcomes.
• Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient’s situation.
• Collaborates with the team of patients, families, and healthcare providers to deliver patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment.
• Provides learning opportunities for patients, family members, and team members.
• Directly provides health information to patients, families, and the treatment team.
• Participates in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties among healthcare team members.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
