Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse delivers coordinated nursing care for patients or assigned groups of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. This position supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff while coordinating care with other disciplines. Critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment are essential in this role.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
• Acute care facility experience: Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale certification: Required

Essential Functions

• Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis and care issues.
• Develops and implements a care plan that prescribes interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
• Coordinates care delivery and employs strategies to promote health and safety in the environment.
• Evaluates progress towards attaining outcomes.
• Identifies outcomes for the patient or patient’s situation.
• Collaborates with the patient, family, and healthcare team to provide care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment.
• Provides educational opportunities for patients, families, and team members.
• Delivers health information directly to patients and families.
• Participates in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegates tasks appropriately and coordinates duties among healthcare team members.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
